The AK74 Recoil is Out of Control – What’s Happening with Black Ops 6?

It’s hard to enjoy a weapon that has so much recoil that it’s nearly impossible to control, and right now, that’s the situation with the AK74 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. As an avid fan of the AK series, I was really excited when it was reintroduced, but the current recoil mechanics are frustrating, to say the least.

In previous Call of Duty titles, the AK74 had a manageable recoil pattern, which allowed for mid-range engagements and solid accuracy when paired with the right attachments. However, in Black Ops 6, the weapon's recoil seems to be over-exaggerated. After a few rounds, the weapon spirals upward uncontrollably, even with attachments like the Foregrip or the Underbarrel Stabilizer.

It’s not just the recoil that’s an issue—it’s how much it impacts the weapon’s overall usability. The AK74 should be a reliable, versatile weapon that can stand its ground in close to mid-range combat. But right now, it feels like I’m fighting the gun just as much as I’m fighting enemy players. Some have suggested that the recoil is intentionally designed for balance purposes, but I’m not convinced. Other assault rifles in the game don’t suffer from this kind of overbearing recoil.

It’s clear that the gun needs a buff or a rework to make it more viable for those of us who prefer a more stable assault rifle experience. Hopefully, the developers take this feedback seriously and implement some changes soon. Until then, I’ll be looking for other guns that are more forgiving in terms of recoil control.
